Dear Friends and Families of Colonel Walker School,
On Friday last week students from Ms. Leigh’s and Mr. K’s grade 2/3 classes did an outstanding job leading us in our first assembly of the 2024-25 school year. They inspired us to think about who Terry Fox was, why we run each year in his honor, and how all of us in Canada can work together to fight cancer by promoting awareness and to fund cancer research. We were unable to run on Friday due to inclement weather, but will run together as a school community this morning at 10 AM.
Please see below for some important information:
Modular Demolition at Colonel Walker School
All of the major demolition work has been completed, and minor remediation will take place this week to ensure the school site where the modular was located is safe for students and the community to use. The final landscaping and building remediation, including some paint touch-ups, are expected to be completed by the end of September. Crews will work this week and next week to complete the work.
Crews are working closely with school administration to ensure no work is being completed when students may be outdoors or when it impacts the school day. Measures will continue to be taken to ensure the safety of students and community members using the school site during this time.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding this month as work occurred at your school. If you have any questions about this project, you may email accommodation@cbe.ab.ca.
