At Colonel Walker School we live and learn together on Mohkinstis, in Treaty 7 Territory. We celebrate diversity and maintain equitable and inclusive learning environments. Our teachers, support staff and families work together to understand and respond to the holistic needs of each student (Spirit, Heart, Body and Mind). We maintain high academic standards, nurture curiosity and build resiliency in all students. As a small school community, we have a big heart; our students, teachers and support staff know and care for each other. Each day at school, our students engage in meaningful and challenging learning experiences to understand themselves, our community, and the world. We support students to see and appreciate multiple perspectives. When Colonel Walker students transition to junior high school, we strive to ensure they love learning, respect others, have confidence in themselves and are ready to contribute to the world in positive ways in the future.

School Name
Colonel Walker School is named after Colonel James Walker (1846-1936), a previous landowner in the Inglewood area. Walker was a citizen of Calgary chosen from over 3,000 nominees as the "Citizen of the Century" in 1975. He contributed to the City of Calgary through initiatives in the fields of education, health, manufacturing, natural resources, immigration, and civic council. We remember Colonel James Walker for his entrepreneurship, creativity, fairness and generosity.
Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. Our school, along with all CBE schools, made a Truth and Reconciliation Commitment to Action, on June 21, we renewed our commitment.

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report
Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
