Dear Friends and Families of Colonel Walker School
It was fantastic to get outside for recess breaks at the end of this week after so many cold days kept us indoors! Sunshine, fresh air and physical activity breaks are important ways that students reset and ready themselves to re-engage in learning each day at school.
Please below see a few school updates:
Welcome to our New Staff Members
Staff and students have welcomed back Andrea Langmo to our school community in a wonderful way over the past two weeks. We’ve also welcomed a new lunchroom supervisor, Jeenat Rahman, who is thrilled to join our CWS family. Ms. “Zee” (as she’s asked our students to call her) is getting know our learning community and is doing a fantastic job familiarizing herself with routines as she works alongside Ms. Grant and Mr. Scott to ensure student safety and well-being in our lunchroom.
After School Pick-up
Starting next week, students who attend Colonel Walker Programs after school will be dismissed by their classroom teachers directly to CWP staff on the compound. Please continue to ensure you communicate directly with Colonel Walker Programs and the school (main office and your child’s teacher) if your student is absent, leaves early for an appointment, goes home part way through the day due to illness, or if there is an unexpected after school plan. This communication helps us to ensure an efficient and safe dismissal at the end of each school day.
Learn and Share | School Planning
We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we are asking you to share your perspectives about our school development plan, school budget and school fees. Information about our SDP and Fees can be found on the school website by clinking on this link.
Here are three ways you can share your voice in relation to this important planning work:
- Watch this short video to learn about the planning work schools do to improve and support student learning.
- Complete the online survey open from today until March 31: click here to complete the survey.
- Attend our next School Council meeting on Thursday February 27 at 6pm. This meeting will take place virtually at the following link: Join the meeting now
Your input is important to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspectives
Kindergarten Registration
Registration for kindergarten opened last month. We’re steadily receiving registrations from students in our area who will join our CWS family for kindergarten in the 2025-26 school year. If you have friends and neighbors yet to register their kindergarten-aged children, please encourage them to do so ASAP. This information is important for us to have as we begin to plan for the 2025-26 school year.
