Dear Friends and Families of Colonel Walker School,
I hope everyone had a fantastic and restful spring break. Please see below for a few updates:
Solar Eclipse
On Monday we will experience a rare and exciting solar eclipse in Calgary. Please rest assured that it is safe for your child to attend school that day. We will follow the CBE’s safety directive to remain inside between 11:50am- 1:50pm and will ensure that blinds cover all windows during this time period to keep everyone’s eyes safe. All students will eat lunch inside on Monday and teachers will find time for them to be outdoors for play/physical activity only when it is safe to be outside. Colonel Walker Programs will provide a bagged lunch for students who regularly attend hot lunch- these students will eat with their peers in our lunchroom at school. Throughout the day on Monday, teachers will share learning about this special event. Remember to be mindful of safety precautions (including not looking direclty at the sun) if you are picking up or dropping off your student at school between 11:50am and 1:50pm on Monday.
CBE Student Survey
Next week, students in grades 4, 5 and 6 will be participating in an online school perception survey in class with their teachers. This survey provides an opportunity for students to share their voices and to give feedback on their experiences at school. Students will be asked to report on themselves and their learning; the information they share informs our planning for next year. If you have questions or would like to request more information about the CBE Student Survey, please reach out.
