Dear Friends and Families of Colonel Walker School,

It was fantastic to have so many families out for our Meet the Teacher Conferences. A big thank you to our CWS Council for providing dinner for the teachers that evening. I was also fantastic to see faces old and new at our School Council and CWCSA AGMs at the end of September. We are so grateful to have such an engaged and supportive community of families championing our work at the school.

Safe Pick-Up and Drop-Off

A reminder to please be attentive and aware of your speed and surroundings when dropping off and picking up students in the parking lots on the Western edge of the school grounds (near the bike racks), and near the community garden. We have lots of children travelling to and from school on foot and their safety is paramount. Please also remember that the school parking lot is not a safe place to drop off and pick up students.

Reminders from the Office

Please ensure you’ve completed and returned all online and paper forms sent home in September. If you need support or are unsure of what to do, please reach out to the main office at any time. If you’ve not yet registered for noon supervision, please do so ASAP.

Important Upcoming Dates

  • Oct. 7-11 (M-F) - In school Elev8 Lacrosse residency (all grades)
  • Monday October 14 - Thanksgiving Day (school closed)
  • Thursday October 24 - School Council Meeting (hybrid format) at 6 PM
  • Friday October 25 - PD Day (no classes for students)

As the weather gets cooler, please remember to dress appropriately for learning both inside and outside each day. Teachers take learning outside with our students on a regular basis, and we are outside for recess and lunch breaks to move and play in all conditions (except when weather advisories are in effect e.g. below -20 degrees).
