Dear Friends and Families of Colonel Walker School,
Thank you to all who were able to join us for singing in the mornings this week. It was wonderful to see our choir perform and to hear all our students showcase the songs they’ve practiced in music over the past couple of weeks. A special note of gratitude to Mrs. Blackman who organized this opportunity to build and celebrate community as we move into the holidays.
We appreciate your donations to the Calgary Food Bank over the past couple of weeks. At the end of the day tomorrow all items collected will be donated. If you want to make a donation and have not yet had a chance, please stop by the main office today or before school tomorrow.
All items in our Lost and Found will be donated at the end of the day tomorrow- last call if you think your child has lost something that may have been found over the past few months.
Today we bid farewell to our lunchroom supervisor Nguyen Do Vy who has accepted a 25-hour position as an Educational Assistant at another CBE school. We are grateful to have had her as member of our CWS team over the past couple of years- we will miss Nguyen and wish her all the best in her new role. Our open lunchroom position will be filled in the coming weeks.
Tomorrow is the last day of classes before the Winter Break. In the morning we’ll meet in cross grade groups led by students in our Division 2 learning community- they are excited to share the winter activities they have planned for their family groups. Tomorrow is also Pajama Day! All students are invited to wear PJs to school if they’d like to participate.
Please enjoy some rest and renewal with loved ones over the next two weeks as we move through the winter solstice, celebrate various holidays and usher in the new year. We look forward to welcoming all students back to school for the first day of classes after the winter break on Monday January 6, 2024.
Warm wishes to all for a peaceful holiday season,
Kate Jones
Principal
